The Dane County Sheriff's Deparment has been leading the initiative to bring Project Lifesaver to Dane County. After a tragic case in Wisconsin this past summer where an autistic boy wandered away from home and drowned, I began my quest to bring Project Lifesaver to Dane County. After several phone calls and promoting the idea at my autism training sessions, Lorie Wiessinger of the Dane County Sherrif's Department attended one of my programs and agreed to lead the effort. Together with community officers Mike Butler and Leslie Fox, their combined efforts have lead to a strong case for moving Project Lifesaver forward in Dane County. I am confident that we will get Project Lifesaver within the next year and I am immensely grateful for all of their efforts in seeing this project to fluition.
