The McFarland Fire Department is in the unique position of having a school for autistic children in their district. It was a pleasure to train these firefighters and emphasize the importance of their role in their community. I was impressed with their eagerness to learn about autism as well as the school.
The visit from a local family further emphasized the presentation and gave the family a chance to express their concerns while giving the firefighters an opportunity to meet an autistic child. The participants called the training an "eye opening experience" and one they would recommend to other departments.
