Watertown Fire Department

I was joined by 13 firefighters in Watertown on a rainy Thursday evening. The group exercises were particularly useful, with each group working diligently through the tools they had to communicate with the volunteer autistic individual. I was encouraged to see the first responders working together to find effective ways to interact with the affected individuals.

Comments from this group were also very insightful, indicating the need for patience and understanding. Community partnerships were of special interest, since knowledge of the existence of an autistic individual on the premises could potentially avert a tragedy.
