Marshall EMS

On Monday evening, I was joined by 25 members of Marshall EMS. Beyond training these first responders in how to recognize and respond to an autistic individual, we were joined by a local family. The young man with autism was a pleasure to have with us and showed a side of autism not often seen, that of a young person fully aware of his surroundings and wanting to interact and engage with others. Autistic children, like all children, want to fit in and be liked.

After the training, I received a lot of good comments and support regarding raising autism awareness in the area. I was graciously invited to host a booth on autism awareness at Marshall's upcoming Safety Day on Saturday, May 19th. The caregiver safety kit that I showcased at the training, which is available to families through www.SelectAutismMerchandise.com, will also be available at this event. Marshall EMS and Pastor Paul also generously offered to donate space to Autism ALERT to offer an Autism Safety Training for Caregivers session in Marshall sometime this summer. My many thanks to this group of first responders for their dedication in helping those in their community.
