Chris Lacey, BSME, MSBME, is a professional trainer, author, and founder of Autism ALERT. Chris has two children, one of whom has autism. She lives in south central Wisconsin where she strives to raise autism awareness and promote successful interactions with persons with autism and their communities.
Autism is a neurological condition that affects communication and social skills. It is estimated that as many as 1 in every 100 children born today will develop some form of autism. The training program for police, fire, EMS, and health care professionals takes a how-to approach to autism, enabling first responders to successfully recognize and interact with autistic persons in a variety of real-life situations. The parent training program approaches the many aspects parents can address ahead of time to prepare for emergencies.
