On Monday, February 11th, I was joined by 25 members of the Lake Mills EMS, as well as a handful of employees from a local daycare center. Several of the members had both personal and professional experience with autism and this led to many relevant questions about the disorder and how to work with it. A common concern was how to provide the highest level of care given the sensory issues surrounding autism.

After the training a local family came with their son to discuss their experiences with their autistic sons. The father's comments were eloquent and shed light on the condition. My thanks go out to this family as well as this group of first responders and day care workers who were sincerely interested in serving this population.
